Upcoming on Audioasis: Altspeak & Telepathic Liberation Army
We heard some great sets last week from the recently reunited Goodness and post-Das Llamas group See Me River. The more die-hard amongst you may have even caught Goodness at Seattle Center’s Mural Stage last week. Check out this review of that Mural show along with some great photos. This week Hannah Levin is back with Seattle’s own Altspeak and Telepathic Liberation Army.

Altspeak (6PM) will start off this week’s show, filling our tiny studio with their arena-sized Britpop. The band made a very bold, modern move recently by releasing their debut album, It’s Up To You, as a free download beginning on July 2nd. In addition to the download, the album is now available at local record retailers. Coulter Leslie and Iggy Faus lead the charge through the album’s 13 guitar-driven tracks, focusing their echoing vocals and airy strums on the theme of self-determination — fitting since the band’s name stems from George Orwell’s eerily truthful 1984. With a sound this big, Altspeak won’t stay under wraps for long. Check ‘em out 9/6 at the High Dive with other local bands Black Nite Crash and Palodine.

Taking us towards the finale of another show this week will be Telepathic Liberation Army (8PM). This all-female band consists of former members of bands such as Chromatics, Diamond Cut Diamond and a menagerie of others. Vocalist Lisa Orth plays the punk rock frontwoman beautifully, delivering fired-up lyrics without ever losing her cool. Thanks to bassist Michelle Nolan and drummer Stacy Peck, the band also makes good on some seriously bouncy new wave grooves. TLA just finished a series of Seattle shows, but currently has nothing new on the books. I guess you’ll just have to tune in to Audioasis. Don’t forget to check the blog again next week when we preview our monthly benefit show at the High Dive.
