There are plenty of treats this week, and just in time for Halloween. And it’s the perfect time of year for The Cure’s album to come out — not because they’re dark or scary or any of the other cliches that we attach to so-called goth music, but at their best they have a fitting blend of creepy and fun, as Disintegration’s “Lullaby” (”the spiderman is having me for dinner tonight!”). Even better, this week there are two Cure-related offerings for you to pick up: their 13th album, 4:13 Dream, and the cover album Perfect As Cats: A Tribute to The Cure, benefiting Invisible Children, a non-profit organization seeking to aid “those living in regions of conflict and injustice.” The compilation, on Manimal Vinyl Records, includes songs from The Dandy Warhols, The Muslims, Voyager One, Devastations, and a whole lot more.
