Every Monday through Friday, we deliver a different song as part our Song of the Day podcast subscription. This podcast features exclusive KEXP in-studio performances, unreleased songs, and recordings from independent artists that our DJs think you should hear. Every Friday the Song of the Day podcast spotlights local musicians. Today’s featured selection, chosen by Morning Show host John Richards is White Noise Melody by The Whore Moans from their newly released Hello From Radio Wasteland on Mt. Fuji Records.
The Whore Moans are back with and epic, and I mean EPIC new album chalk-full of anthemic rock songs, and “White Noise Melody” is no exception. You’re immediately blasted with distorted garage guitars and arena rock drums before being welcomed into the radio wasteland. But never fear, this song also features traditional pop elements, like hand claps, (punkified) harmonies, and love, which help keep it accessible for those who may have been turned off by the previous sentence. Friends since high school, The Whore Moans put on a fun and rowdy live show full of humor and antics only possible from friends who have waded through the trenches with one another over the years. The boys are off on a West Coast tour now, but will be back in Seattle on December 12th at Chop Suey with Lesbian and Elephant Rider. For a complete list of tour dates/locals, check out their MySpace page.
You can check out their live performance from Nov 18 on KEXP’s Streaming Archive for a few more days or watch them performing X-Ray Eyes here:
