The Wild Yaks are an unsigned band from Brooklyn that will likely be bombarded with calls from record labels following this year’s festival. The quartet dabbles in plenty of simple punk rhythms overlapped with a chorus of barroom rants and ferocious incitations. Even Blood Red Field,
at first an innocent bluesy number with guitar and sax intro quickly turns to full-band yelling, but with a song title like that it was only a matter of time. With other song titles like Wish I Had A Whip
and Tomahawk,
you can easily see where this is going. The question with this band is not whether they have the skill or ambition to be successful — it’s whether or not they can control themselves. Personally, I’d like to be front row to find out.
