Thanks to Dyme Def and Sex With Strangers for shakin’ the KEXP studio for Audioasis last week! You can catch Dyme Def at the High Dive in Seattle, WA on May 5th (Cinco de Mayo!) and Sex With Strangers at The Biltmore in Vancouver, B.C. on May 21st.

This week we’re broadcasting from The Sunset Tavern in Ballard with Hannah Levin and special co-host DJ El Toro, bringing you live sets from Born Anchors and Police Teeth. Each month for the Audioasis live broadcast, one local charity is chosen as the event’s beneficiary. This month, that charity is Hanford Challenge. Hanford Challenge is bringing new ideas and approaches to one of the most difficult environmental issues of the Northwest –cleaning up the dangerously contaminated Hanford Nuclear Site, located on the banks of the Columbia River.

Rustee Pace
Born Anchors (6:30PM) know how to play, and also how to write new kinds of the under-your-skin, throb-and-crackle songs that bands in the underground rock scene used to crank out. Sprezzatura is Born Anchors’ sultry and brittle full-length debut.

Mike Blankenhorn
Police Teeth (8PM) is a balance of wry humour and anger. The resulting record (Real Size Monster Series) kicks your ass both musically and lyrically, is able to take itself seriously but is still capable of, you know, fun.
This night of dynamic rock sounds will continue well into the night with our Audioasis Showcase of Wild Orchid Children, Bacchus, and Thee Sgt. Major III. More info here.
