Sound and Vision: 28 days of videos

Being the shortest month of the year, February gave me 28 days to find the best videos for your eyes and enjoyment.

Fortunately, I found some really great videos help me remember childhood memories or create fantasy ones, understand the difference between good and bad and to start considering what I want to be for Halloween, birthdays and other random things!

Out This Week 3/2

Choc Quib Town

You may not have heard much of them yet, but Choc Quib Town are creating a stir worldwide. Already nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best New Artist, the Colombian trio creates a funky mix of hip-hop, native folk, and Afro-Colombian rhythms that’s now infecting the airwaves in the U.S. Their American debut, Oro, out today, is actually a collection of hits from their two previous albums, released only in Columbia, and has landed top shelf in KEXP’s rotation and hopefully right in your shopping basket as well. New Zealand’s The Ruby Suns also return this week with their third LP of sun-kissed psychedelic pop. If there were any logical space between TNP and The Ruby Suns, then Athens, GA, band Twin Tigers would find it. Their long-awaited Gray Waves is an affecting album emotive pop lyrics and psyched-out guitars.

Live Video: Justin Townes Earle

Whenever Bloodshot artist Justin Townes Earle comes to town, we feel compelled to put him on air — no matter how bleary-eyed he might be when he reaches the station or what kind of night he had before. Though he claimed to be a bit worse for wear from the travails of the tour, the always-charming songwriter didn’t show it as he performed a solid solo set of roots-driven songs, which included a few new ones plus the title track to his 2009 album, Midnight at the Movies.
