KEXP offers internships in all areas of radio broadcasting. Interns will gain real world experience in a broad array of fields including music programming, production, online, marketing, development, business support and administration. KEXP interns will learn skills in business communication, project management, problem solving, audio technology, database management and more. These skills and experiences offer our interns a unique ground-level glimpse of the day-to-day life of a community radio station, while offering relationship building and networking opportunities that will aid in securing future employment in the music industry. All internships are unpaid.
QUALIFICATIONS – WHAT WE LOOK FOR
KEXP internships are highly competitive. In general, we look for individuals who are motivated, independent workers, team players, organized, efficient, excellent communicators, comfortable on Microsoft Office applications and most importantly have a fanatical love of music, and knowledge of KEXP and our mission in the community. Availability of 10-20 hours per week, during regular business hours (9am-6pm, Monday-Friday) is a requirement for all new interns.

This internship supports the Annual Giving team’s ability to complete outreach to donors regarding their donations as well as fulfilling stewardship activities to show our appreciation. Well-executed stewardship and customer service includes accurately and efficiently addressing donor needs, keeping their information up-to-date, and thanking them for their support. These activities facilitate ongoing, reliable support from donors and encourage donor loyalty.
Major Giving Internship
The Major Giving Intern supports the entire Major Giving Team, through the Development Assistant for Major Giving. Responsibilities are focused around donor and prospect management and stewardship. The Major Giving Intern is responsible for assisting in maintaining donor records in KEXP’s donor database and researching potential donors. The Major Giving Intern will assist with individual solicitations by writing briefings, setting up for meetings, and preparing materials that are given to prospective donors to KEXP. This intern may also help with fundraising events, both in planning and the event itself. A strong attention to detail and the ability to balance that with the fast paced nature of Major Gift work is an important qualifications for the Major Giving Intern. The main role of the Major Giving Intern is to assist KEXP’s fundraisers so they are prepared and briefed on their fundraising activities, especially in regards to the KEXP Capital Campaign.
