An Iconic Band, a Legendary Space, an Unforgettable Day
KEXP invites you to an intimate daytime performance with Calexico at historic Robert Lang Studios in Seattle on Thursday, July 16th at 11:30 a.m. Calexico will play tracks from the new album Edge of the Sun and answer your questions about their career in a Q&A session moderated by DJ Cheryl Waters. Proceeds from this event will benefit KEXP’s New Home Campaign and can be purchased here:
Over the course of two decades and eight albums, Joey Burns and John Convertino have crossed musical barriers with Calexico, integrating strings, Mariachi brass, and jazzy percussion into their expansive sound. But there has always been more to the Tucson, AZ combo than just heritage and heat. Calexico has also worked with Iron & Wine, Arcade Fire, Neko Case, and Nancy Sinatra, and contributed to TV and film soundtracks including Breaking Bad and the Dylan biopic I’m Not There. Their latest album, Edge of the Sun, was released in April 2015 and finds them working with Mexican collaborators for the first time.

About the Campaign for KEXP’s New Home:
A shared passion for “music that matters” has inspired the listeners, artists, and curators of the KEXP Community for more than 40 years. Now, in order to increase that impact, we need to grow physically, too. KEXP’s New Home is designed specifically to reach more music lovers, break down barriers between listeners and their favorite artists, and make it even easier to share new music and experiences with KEXP Community members all over the world.
