Back in 2002, a young band formed in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Their late night shows were fueled by trips to the Sun Liquor store across the street from the venue the Silverlake Lounge. These excursions were jokingly called “Silversun Pickups,” which eventually became their name…
KEXP invites you to an intimate acoustic performance with Silversun Pickups as we feature them at their namesake, a Sun Liquor Lounge on Summit Avenue in Seattle on Tuesday, September 15th at 3:00 PM. Silversun Pickups will preview exclusive tracks from their new album Better Nature, and then spend some time hanging out with listeners and fans. This event is 21+.
Don’t miss your chance to be part of this special session with one of the KEXP community’s best-loved artists and help build KEXP’s New Home at Seattle Center.
About Silversun Pickups:
Silversun Pickups’ first new album in more than three years, Better Nature sees the Silverlake, CA-based band partnering once again with producer Jacknife Lee (U2, Two Door Cinema Club, Crystal Castles), with whom they so successfully collaborated on 2012’s visionary Neck of the Woods. Harmonious and intimate, high-flying and deeply personal, Better Nature is a revelatory manifestation of a great band entirely in touch with the muse and each other. Silversun Pickups have once again managed the tricky task of being completely contemporary while also full on forward thinking, now as ever, existing more than a few steps ahead of the curve.
About the Campaign for KEXP’s New Home:
A shared passion for “music that matters” has inspired the listeners, artists, and curators of the KEXP Community for more than 40 years. Now, in order to increase that impact, we need to grow physically, too. KEXP’s New Home is designed specifically to reach more music lovers, break down barriers between listeners and their favorite artists, and make it even easier to share new music and experiences with KEXP Community members all over the world.
