Rockabilly Ball 2011

KEXP is pleased to announce the 24th Annual Shake the Shack Rockabilly Ball on September 22-24 at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard, with doors opening at 8pm each night. Host Dr. Leon Berman and the Shake the Shack crew will commemorate the 24th year of The Rockabilly Ball, the longest running rockabilly festival in the United States, with a three day celebration.

The event will feature a car show and 13 amazing live performances from top-flight rockabilly bands from across the country. Tickets are available at Ticketweb.com and the Tractor Tavern.

Plus, catch the 8th Annual Shake the Shack Hot Rod Car Show at the Bogart’s Airport Way (formally Goldie’s), located at 3924 Airport Way S., Seattle, Washington, on Saturday, September 24th from 9am to 5pm. Featuring performances by The Rainieros, The Black Crabs, Drunken Prayer, Graceland Five, Billy Dwayne and the Creepers and Dragstrip Riot. Music starts at 12pm, the show is free to attend and open to all vehicles whose owners feel they are special enough to be shown. Trophies, awards and dash plaques will be awarded to top entrants. There is a $10 fee to participate

KEXP’s Shake the Shack program is three full hours of rockabilly, country and rhythm and blues, and airs Friday nights from 6pm – 9pm and is hosted by Dr. Leon Berman. Berman, known by his fans as "The Shackmaster," has been spinning on KEXP for 24 years.

    Like the other poster, I am wondering if the Shake the Shack Rockabilly Ball will be happening again in 2012. It was a terrific event last year.

    It will indeed! Details are still TBD, but you can expect the STS Rockabilly Ball to happen again this year.
