Six Degrees of Greg Dulli Day

Thursday, September 17th

6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PST

“At last, the link between myself
and Bob Marley will be revealed”
– Greg Dulli

Tune in Thursday, September 17th, as KEXP celebrates Six Degrees of Greg Dulli, a day of “on-the-fly” programming inspired by the music of Greg Dulli.

From 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PT, John Richards, Troy Nelson, and Kevin Cole will program a day of music to celebrate the way our DJ’s connect artists every day. At 6:00 AM, John will start his show with a song by Dulli and one of his many projects, and each song played thereafter will somehow link to the song played before it.

Connections can include anything from guest vocals, shared musicians, same producers, and more. None of these connections have been pre-planned, and our DJs will be thinking on their feet to come up with the next song as they do daily on kexp.

“Every day at KEXP, we connect artists in nearly every set — be it sound, energy, influence, style, personnel,” said John Richards, host of The Morning Show. “We try to both entertain and educate at the same time. One morning, I had connected about a half-dozen artists, and thought to myself, I wonder how long you could keep doing this? We had a great time trying it for the first time in 2013 with Six Degrees of Sharon Van Etten Day, and now we are going to give it a go with Greg Dulli. This really represents what KEXP is about: programming on the fly, with our listeners participating in the broadcast.”

Richards adds, “I’m excited to see where we go this time as we have so much more music to get to and so much inspiration from our years of supporting Dulli’s music. Back in 2013, in the middle of the broadcast, Sir Paul McCartney had just gotten into town and called the station and went live on the air, and yes, we made sure to mix in Paul and his music into the six degrees.”

Listeners are strongly encouraged to send their musical suggestions via e-mail to dj@kexp.org, or on Twitter (@KEXP).
