  • The darkwave music project of Wesley Eisold, Cold Cave, has released a new single from the two-track EP Oceans With No End. True to Eisold's style, "People are Poison" is a blend of pessimistic lyrics and raving synthesized percussion. The song even ends with the depressing sound of rainfall and, unless you possess the strong resolve of a Seattleite, that is sure to damper anyone's mood. I guess I have to applaud Cold Cave's dedication to melancholy. Now, that's ironic. [CoS]

  • I believe it should be considered an honor when a band like Dinosaur Jr. decides to cover one of your songs. Their take on "Entertainment" by Phoenix adds so much depth and tranquility to an already successful song. The fresh, pure guitar and vocals make it, in my humble opinion, even better than the original. Check it out below and see what you think. [Stereogum]

  • Cold War Kids dubuted their new song "Loner Phase" on KCRW, California's NPR affliate, yesterday. Nathan Willet's voice really shines on this track and I have to say that CWK seem to sound even better live. Their new album Dear Miss Lonely Hearts will drop on April 2 from Downtown Records. [CoS]

  • Who knew a classic 60's soul song would entice an indie band like Yo La Tengo to cover it. The band participated in the A.V. Club's Undercover series and chose The Supremes' hit "Come See About Me". It's fun to hear such an iconic female song done from a man's perspective. The band's frontman, Ira Kaplan, does Diana Ross justice and delivers an entertaining performance. [Stereogum]

    • Local musician Mark Pickerel (Mark Pickerel & His Praying Hands, Screaming Trees, The Young Evils, etc.) reported on his Facebook page that his vintage guitar was stolen from his car on Sunday night in Ballard.
"My guitar stolen - Washburn Prairie Song - late 1960s - my only guitar love - wrote every song of mine on it ! Someone broke into my car at 24th and Market in Ballard at approx 11:40 to 12:20 am , any leads or who to contact tomorrow morning would be appreciated .... Damn ! A huge loss to me - it's the only guitar I've ever known or loved ! Thanks in advance for any help !"
If you have any information, please contact him. He'd love to get it back.
