  • We've finally got a release date to announce for the new Run the Jewels! The highly-anticipated RTJ3 hits the internet as a free download on January 13th, with physical copies to follow, same day in North America and January 20th everywhere else. Special guests include Kamasi Washington (who, incidentally, will be LIVE on KEXP tomorrow at 1:00 PM PT), Trina, BOOTS, Tunde Adebimpe, and Danny Brown. Check out the track "Legend Has It" below, and get a first look at the album artwork. The duo explain: "For us, the RTJ1 hands were about ‘taking what’s yours’ – your world, your life, your attitude. The RTJ2 hands were wrapped in bandages, signifying injury and healing, which for us represented the growth in ideas and tone of that album. For RTJ3 the bandages are off, the chain is gone and the hands have been transformed into gold. For us this represents the idea that there is nothing to take that exists outside of yourself. You are the jewel." Damn. [Spin]

  • Just the other day we were admiring his vest, and today, we've got new music to share from Strand of Oaks. Stream the single "Radio Kids" below from his forthcoming full-length, Hard Love. Timothy Showalter (Mr. Oaks himself) said in a press release, "In a time of calculation and overthinking, I wanted to bring back the raw, impulsive nature that is the DNA of so many records I love. Some records are built like monuments, set in stone. I want this record to be burned in effigy, in celebration of the limited time we have on this earth." Come celebrate with him on Friday, March 24th at Neumos, and pick up the release February 17th via Dead Oecans. [Consequence of Sound]

  • It was exciting enough when veteran shoegazers Ride reunited for the 25th anniversary of their debut Nowhere. Now we've got news that the UK quartet are recording brand new material. London-based DJ Erol Alkan announced on Instagram that he's producing the whole affair. Title and release date to be shared as soon as we get it. In the meantime, revisit their KEXP in-studio, the final live performance from our old Dexter and Denny home. [Pitchfork]

  • Last night, Seattle's own Car Seat Headrest stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a performance of "Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales" off their latest, Teens of Denial. Watch below. The group just wrapped up an extensive North American tour, and head to Australia in January. Teens of Denial is out now via Matador Records. [Under the Radar]
