  • Local duo Shabazz Palaces have announced a new album on the way, Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star out July 14th via Sub Pop. Check out the first single "Shine a Light (feat. Thaddillac)" below, via a lyric video directed by Cristina T. Bercovitz and Jonathan Snipes of clipping. In addition to Thaddillac, the new album features guest appearances from Strokes’ Julian Casblanacas, Thundercat, Gamble and Huff, and more. A press release explains the LP is the story of Quazarz, a "sentient being from somewhere else." Frontman Ishmael Butler a.k.a. Palaceer Lazaro elaborates, "I, Quazarz, Born On A Gangster Star, son only of Barbara Dream Caster and Reginald The Dark Hoper - he who rides on light - dreamer of the seventh dream and kissed eternal by Awet the Sun Scented -- who far from home I found my same self differents in those constellies that be Dai at my weap-side immediate and all us Water Guild affiliates who revelries in the futures passed recordings and ceremonies flexing resplendent in the Paradise Sportif armor -- raising these musics a joy/cry that way into these aquadescentdiamondized ethers of the Migosphere here on Drake world. Welcome To Quazarz." [ Pitchfork ]

  • Another local duo we love is Odesza, and if you were listening to The Morning Show on KEXP this morning, you may have caught the worldwide debut of "Line of Sight," their first new music in a year and a half. No album information yet, but band members Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight also announced they'll be special guests at Bumbershoot this year. (See the complete line-up here.) • Can't get enough BNQT? Not only are the supergroup (comprised of members of Midlake, Band Of Horses, Franz Fredinand, Travis, and Grandaddy) today's KEXP Song of the Day, but we've also got another new track to share from their forthcoming LP Volume I. Stream the single "Mind Of A Man" below, which features Travis frontman Fran Healy on lead vocal. Volume I is out April 28th via Dualtone/Bella Union. [ Stereogum ]

  • Last week's in-studio guest Real Estate stopped by Conan last night to perform the single "Darling" off their latest In Mind. Unlike their KEXP in-studio, this time, the guys were accompanied by a harpist who adds a whole new lovely layer to the already-lovely track. Watch below. In Mind is out now via Domino.
