  • First Aid Kit returned last month with the new single "It's A Shame," and today they've announced that a forthcoming album will be released early next year. Entitled Ruins, the album was recorded in Portland with Decemberists/My Morning Jacket producer Tucker Martine and features appearances from REM's Peter Buck, Wilco's Glenn Kotche, and Midlake's McKenzie Smith. They also shared a new single called "Postcard." Klara Söderberg calls the song: "...one of the most traditional sounding songs we’ve ever written, and we wanted the production to mirror that. It's not a resentful song, but more of a reaching out to a lover to wish them well on their journey in the midst of having to let them go." First Aid Kit will play the Moore Theatre on Sunday, January 28. [ Rolling Stone ]
  • Detroit post-punk five-piece Protomartyr released Relatives In Descent last month, their fourth album and first with Domino Records. Today they've unveiled the video for "Don't Go To Anacita," directed by Yoonha Park. Inspired by filmmaker Zbigniew Rybzynski’s satirical “Stairway to Lenin,” as well as R.E.M.’s video for “Imitation of Life,” Park said in a statement: “I wanted to make a visual that recreated the feeling of scanning over a large, densely populated image, like a Breughel painting or Where’s Waldo?. I wanted to convey a feeling of false progress and the idea that every new horror that meets us is part of a never-ending continuum.” [ SPIN ]
  • Portland rapper Aminé released his ridiculously fun debut album Good For You earlier this year, chock full of joyous tunes, including his most popular "Caroline." Today he's following that up with a new single called "Squeeze." The song is harder hitting and more bass-heavy than the giddy tunes on Good For You but it shows his range and he flexes hard with a number of good punchlines throughout. [ Pigeons and Planes ]
  • Sleigh Bells are returning with a new mini-album called Kid Kruschev on November 10. So far they've shared two tracks from it, "And Saints" and "Rainmaker." Today the former has received the video treatment that stars frontwoman Alexis Krauss in a 1950's get-up while facing off against a line of ghoulish cheerleaders. The video is, unfortunately, only available via Apple Music so if you have that you can watch it here. [ Stereogum ]
  • Rhye haven't officially announced a new album but it looks like an announcement will be imminent. They've previously shared two new songs, "Please" and "Summer Days," and today they've shared a third called "Taste" and have announced a series of tour dates in 2018. A stop in Seattle is, unfortunately, not on the current schedule. Rhye's last album was 2013's debut Woman. [ Pitchfork ]
