  • James Blake announced the release of his highly-anticipated new album today. Overgrown, the follow-up to his critically-acclaimed self-titled debut, is due out April 8 on Republic, and Blake will be kicking off a North American tour with an appearance at Coachella the following week. Blake’s new single, “Retrograde,” will be out this Monday, but BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe will be offering a sneak preview on his show today. Pitchfork has Blake’s full tour itinerary; be sure to catch him at the Neptune on April 23rd!
  • Liars have shared a new video for “WIXIW,” the title track off their excellent 2012 LP. “It’s like a beautifully-shot, black-and-white, basketball version of Sisyphus,” vocalist Angus Andrew told Entertainment Weekly. Like his mythological analog, the basketball player in this clip is doomed to repeat the same fruitless action -- in this case, attempting a slam dunk. Watch the video below.

  • Dirty Projectors have made quite a few television appearances lately. Not long after they performed “About to Die” on Letterman, the band announced that they’d be making a cameo on Portlandia as Carrie Brownstein’s “Gentle Band” Bless the Barn. Last night, they paid Conan a visit to perform “Offspring Are Blank,” the blistering opener to last year’s Swing Lo Magellan. Check out the performance below.

  • Did you know that Phoenix‘s new album, Bankrupt!, was recorded on the same console as Michael Jackson’s Thriller? According to The New Yorker, guitarist Laurent Brancowitz found the legendary Harrison 4032 for sale on eBay, and the band decided they “had to have it.” While the original asking price was $32,000, frontman Thomas Mars nabbed it for $17,000, and it was promptly delivered to their recording studio in Paris.
