Live Video: Laura Marling

When Laura Marling first emerged out of the West London folk scene in 2008, her age (then 18) belied her eloquent lyrics, deft guitar playing and strong voice, but as her has career progressed, critics have stopped using her age as a talking point and begun championing her consistency. Her fourth album in six years, Once I Was An Eagle, is her most accomplished and ambitious collection of songs yet, building on the full-band leap of 2011’s A Creature I Don’t Know and 2010’s sharply poetic I Speak Because I Can. At the time of the album’s release, Marling stopped by KEXP’s studios to not only showcase her new songs, but a newfound confidence that resonates throughout her new material. Watch it below:
