Fall Fundraising Drive: The Wild Party

Sometimes when I'm filing away records, I imagine what would happen if the CDs or LPs were actual people in a room together. Take the slice from the J's above and throw an imaginary cocktail party. Tom Jones has a mouth-breathing fan-boy meltdown over Robert Johnson while Sharon Jones asks Grace Jones where she buys her hats. What if they all went into a recording studio after a few drinks? My music geek mind reels.

This week, as part of our Fall Fundraising Drive, KEXP is counting down the Top Albums of the 21st Century. Some of the programming combinations have been every bit as oddball as my aforementioned wild party. The second hour of Stevie Zoom's show on Sunday encompassed Bill Callahan (Smog), Gnarls Barkley, Scissor Sisters, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and McClusky. Now that's a party!
