  • Washed Out shined brightly on Late Show with David Letterman last night, stopping by the show to perform the track “All I Know,” from their most recent release Paracosm. They’ll be returning to Seattle on Friday, January 31st to play Little Big Show #8 with Kingdom Crumbs and Kisses. 100% of ticket sales benefit Reel Grrls. [Spin]

  • With the future of Sonic Youth up in the air, band members Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelly are full-speed-ahead with Lee Ranaldo & the Dust. Check out the video for “Late Descent #2″ below, off the Matador Records release Last Night On Earth. [Stereogum]

  • Brooklyn band Hospitality are releasing their sophomore album Trouble on Merge Records on January 28th. Stream the track “Rockets And Jets” below. They’ll be playing Saturday, February 8th at Barboza. [Stereogum]

  • Well, that didn’t last long: although NYC-band The Walkmen announced last month they’d be taking a “pretty extreme hiatus.” Today, it’s been announced the band will reunite for an NBA All-Star Weekend Benefit Concert in New Orleans on February 15. The event is being thrown by the San Antonio Spurs’ Matt Bonner. In a press statement, frontman Hamilton Leithauser said, “We thought it might take a lifetime to get us back together, ’til the Alt-Star Party gave us the nod. How could we stay on the bench? We’re coming 110%. Full-court press. Man to man. Rock n Roll, Pick n Roll.” [Pitchfork]

  • Hopefully you haven’t invested your inheritance yet: turns out rapper Kanye West is not thrilled about the new digital currency startup, “Coinye West.” West’s lawyers have sent a cease-and-desist to the crypto-currency company, who have since changed their URL from to, and changed their logo to something a bit more “fishy.” (NSFW link) [Pitchfork]
