  • Brooklyn band The National have covered a track from Seattle’s own Perfume Genius on the b-side of their new single for “I Need My Girl.” Stream their take on the track “Learning” below. The National are one of many bands playing the Sasquatch! Music Festival on Memorial Day weekend. [Stereogum]

  • Baba Maraire of Sub Pop duo Shabazz Palaces has a new solo identity as Chimurenga Renaissance: stream the track “The B.A.D Is So Good” below. His full-length debut riZe vadZimu riZe comes out March 25th on Brick Lane Records. [Spin]

  • NY duo Phantogram have shared another track from their upcoming release Voices (out 2/18 on Republic), in tribute of beloved actor Bill Murray. In an interview with The Atlantic, musician Josh Carter said, “We named it ‘Bill Murray’ because we always pictured a sad Bill Murray for the visuals of that song. We want him to be in the music video.” [Under the Radar]

  • Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir of Of Monsters and Men has curated a list of Nordic artists, including some of our Icelandic favorites like Hjaltalín. Check it out here: [Nordic Playlist]
  • Neko Case was joined by Calexico last night on Conan. Watch them give a spirited performance of the track “Ragtime.” Neko’s another artist who will be playing the Sasquatch! Music Festival on Memorial Day weekend. [Consequence of Sound]

  • And speaking of collaborations, last night Broken Bells (Danger Mouse and James Mercer of The Shins) covered The Beatles’ classic “And I Love Her” alongside footage of Ringo Star from an old television broadcast. The inventive idea is in honor of “Beatles Week” on the Late Show with David Letterman, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the band’s debut appearance on Ed Sullivan. [Pitchfork]
