  • The Shins have shared a new song “So Now What,” their contribution to the soundtrack for Zach Braff’s upcoming film Wish I Was Here. The band’s participation makes sense, because a decade ago Braff’s film Garden State put The Shins on the map. A brief snippet of the song was featured in the film’s trailer, and now thanks to NPR you can hear it in full. The Wish I Was Here soundtrack, which also features new music from Bon Iver and Coldplay, releases on July 15. [Stereogum]

  • Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine reports the band are preparing to record an EP this fall. In an interview with the NME, he says they’ll be going into the studio October or November to record songs that have been in the works since last year. No release date has been set, because it’s My Bloody Valentine. [Stereogum]
  • Minnesota rap group Atmosphere stopped by Conan last night to promote their new album Southsiders. They delivered an entertaining performance of their hilariously titled track “Kanye West.” [CoS]

  • For his new track “Every Square Inch” Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth collaborated with 19-year-old Japanese producer Qrion. Even without lyrics, it’s a fun, romantic song. [CMJ]
