  • New wave pioneers New Order are currently on tour in the US right now, and have slowly been unveiling their first new music in nine years. Earlier this year, they shared the track “Singularity,” and then, last night in Chicago, they debuted another new one titled “Plastic.” Watch fan-shot footage of the new song below. Will they add the track to the Seattle set list, or will they debut yet another new song? We’ll all find out this Sunday, July 6th. [Consequence of Sound]

  • We’ve also got more new music from Spoon to share: stream the track “Do You?” below, from their upcoming release They Want My Soul, out August 5th. And hear an exclusive in-studio session from the band on KEXP Tuesday, August 5th at Noon PT. They’re one of many bands playing the 2014 Capitol Hill Block Party. [Under the Radar]

  • Completing his trilogy, How to Dress Well (aka Tom Krell) shares the video for the track “Childhood Faith in Love,” completing a story line he began with videos for “Repeat Pleasure” and “Face Again.” You might wanna track those down on the internets before streaming the conclusion below: [Pitchfork]

  • Olympia trio Naomi Punk are poised to drop their sophomore album Television Man, out August 5th on Captured Tracks. Stream the track “Firehose Face” below, and hear an exclusive in-studio session from the band on KEXP’s Audioasis on Saturday, August 9th. [Stereogum]

  • Back in the days before Craigslist and Facebook, music video directors had to print out casting calls and paste them up around town. Weird, right? Well, Spin Magazine has unearthed the original casting call for Nirvana‘s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video, which sought “18 to 25 year olds” to “adapt a high-school personna [sic], i.e., preppy, punk, nerd, jock.” And music video history was made!
