Austin-based Latin, hardcore, and funk fusion outfit Brownout have decided to move into darker territory on their new album, calling upon the notorious energy Ozzy Osbourne showed the world he was capable of when he, inhibitions aside, tore the head off that infamous bat with his teeth. As you’ve probably guessed by now, Brownout’s new alter-ego, dubbed Brown Sabbath, is a collection of Brownout-infused covers of Osbourne’s seminal project, Black Sabbath. Brownout’s new album will feature Black Sabbath classics like “N.I.B.”, “Iron Man,” “Black Sabbath,” and, today’s Song of the Day, “The Wizard.” Taking their Latin influence to a new level, Brownout have replaced the original guitar riffs with a horn section Additionally, the group has made good use of the musical knowledge of Black Sabbath-inspired band The Masters of Reality, and the album contains guest appearances from Alex Maas,
Get ready to pulverize your ears with chaotic cover songs and original funky jams alike as Brownout is coming to the Northwest very soon! They’ll will be featured at the Pickathon Music Festival in Happy Valley, Oregon, from August 2nd to the 3rd, and they’ll be performing at Neumos on August 5th.
