  • Many have responded to the emotional strength of the new Strand Of Oaks’ album Heal, and now frontman Tim Showalter turns his attention to a song that holds emotional resonance for him. Stream his cover of The National's "Pink Rabbits" below, a song he tells Magnet Magazine, "saved me and destroyed me simultaneously." [Stereogum]

  • Over the weekend, Death Cab for Cutie performed their very last show with founding member Chris Walla. From the stage at Rifflandia Festival in Victoria, British Columbia, frontman Ben Gibbard thanked Walla for the last 17 years before they launched into "Marching Bands of Manhattan" off their 2005 album Plans.   • Walla's not the only one moving on: this morning it was announced that founding member and drummer Kurt Dahle is stepping down from The New Pornographers. In a statement, the band says, "It has been a great 15 years playing with an amazing drummer, singer and performer. We wish him the best."
