  • Merrill Garbus' colorful campaign behind Tune-Yards' excellent third album Nikki Nack continues today with a vibrant video for the album cut "Real Thing." Mannequin-esque people, Sesame Street-style visuals, and a climatic dance scene featuring packaging peanuts are a few highlights from the below, Tom Jobbins-directed clip. In related news, Garbus will be wrapping up the Nikki Nack tour at Seattle's Moore Theatre on December 13th with Cibo Matto opening. Tickets for that gig go on sale Friday, October 10th at 10 a.m.

  • New Jersey punks Screaming Females are in the middle of a US tour in support of their April live album Live at the Hideout, and to go along with it, they've released a new 7". Although the group have long cut their teeth on blistering, dissonant guitars, the single's A-side "Wishing Well", is a far cry from that sound, tapping into shimmering guitars, deep bass lines, and a vibe that could aptly be described as "mellow". It's well worth a listen ahead of the single's release tomorrow and the group's show at the Black Lodge on October 15th.

  • The latest chapter in the seemingly endless story of corporations (allegedly) plagiarizing indie rock bands features Hugo Boss and the xx's "Intro". The London trio's label, Young Turks, accused the fashion house of making a "poorly disguised fake", this morning. The fashion company, who have been airing the commercial since April, have not responded, and neither have the band themselves, who are still at work on their third LP. Watch the commercial below and draw your own conclusions.

  • Pulling a page from their SXSW 2013 playbook, The Afghan Whigs brought out a special guest for their Gentlemen at 21 show last night at the Music Hall of Williamsburg: R&B superstar Usher. The Atlanta singer joined Greg Dulli and co. for his song "Climax" during the first encore of the show, which was held to celebrate the 21st anniversary reissue of the Whigs' seminal 1993 album, Gentleman. Watch video of the performance below.

  • Ahead of the release of her sophomore album Tough Love, Jessie Ware has released another track in anticipation of the album. The latest, entitled "Pieces", is a lush, sensuous ballad helmed by Emile Haynie (Kanye West, Lana Del Rey) that crosses the album's understated title track and the bombastic "Say You Love Me" with similarly stellar results. Listen to it below ahead of Tough Love's release next week.
