  • Well, who saw that coming? Wilco have unleashed a surprise new full-length this morning, and are offering it as a free download through August 13th. A CD version hits stores on August 21st, and the vinyl comes out November 27th. The hilariously-named Star Wars is the band's 11th studio album. Stream the whole dang thing below. Wilco play Tuesday, August 11th at Marymoor Park with Jenny Lewis. [Pitchfork]

  • Vocalist Alice Glass has been quiet since leaving Canadian project Crystal Castles, but today she shares her debut solo single, the powerful percussive track "Stillbirth." The track was written by Glass and Jupiter Keyes, and was co-produced and mixed by Lars Stalfors (The Mars Volta, Matt & Kim, and Cold War Kids). Glass writes on her Facebook that the song was inspired by an abusive relationship she escapes, and that all proceeds from digital purchases of the song will benefit organizations (like the nonprofit RAINN) that help survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and incest. • Samuel Herring of Future Islands is teaming up with Madlib for a new project called Trouble Knows Me. Stream their first single together below. Their self-titled 12" EP comes out September 1st via Madlib Invazion. [Pitchfork]

  • Shoegazing chanteuse Tamaryn shares the video for her track "Cranekiss," off her forthcoming full-length Crane Kiss (yep, two words), due August 28th via Mexican Summer. The video was directed by Gang Gang Dance member Brian DeGraw. Watch below. Tamaryn will be LIVE on KEXP on Wednesday, July 22nd at 1:00 PM PT, and playing The Sunset in Ballard later that night with Midday Veil and Your Young Body. [Under the Radar]
