Song of the Day: EZTV - Bury Your Heart

Today’s song, featured on the Afternoon Show with Kevin Cole, is "Bury Your Heart" by EZTV from the 2015 album Calling Out on Captured Tracks.

With the addition of drummer Michael Stasiak (formerly of Widowspeak) and bass player Shane O’Connell, frontman Ezra Tenenbaum's once solo home recording project has become fully-fledged as EZTV, whose gloriously fun pop/rock songs fit any proper summer playlist. Mixing the intimacy of a solo project with all the fun of a complete band also means that a track like “Bury Your Heart” rings true as both deeply personal and highly celebratory — a coming together in the face of silent struggles. As harmonies build and release in climactic resolution, Tenenbaum laments, "I’m losing my patience / When I should be carrying on." Though the lyrics’ tone is somber, when overlaid as counterpoint to a joyful medley of slide guitars, bouncing bass, handclaps, and snare cracks, resilience wins the day.

Since ending a short tour for the album earlier in July, EZTV have yet to announce new dates outside of their New York home base. Keep your eyes peeled for updates to their Facebook page and website.
