  • How many indie rock dudes does it take to cover a Sharon Van Etten song? By our count, four, as footage has surfaced of a 2010 concert where Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, Bryce and Aaron Dessner of The National, and Colin Stetson covered her single "Love More." Watch below. The footage comes from a MusicNOW show; the festival was started eleven years ago by Bryce Dessner, and today they've announce the 2016 dates, March 18th-20th. [Pitchfork]

  • We're not the only ones in love with Icelandic post-punk band Fufanu: not only has Damon Albarn recruited the trio to open for Blur at their Hyde Park show, but he's remixed their single "Ballerina in the Rain," which you can stream below. For more star power, the track was produced by Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner and features dj. flugvél go geimskip (aka our friend DJ Airplane Spaceship) on guest vocals. The "Ballerina in the Rain" single will be out March 11th on One Little Indian. [Pitchfork]

  • Ever the innovators, Animal Collective have released an app today to promote their forthcoming full-length Painting With. iPhone and iPad users (sorry, everyone else) can download the app and paint with their fingers, and they'll also get to check out a new track from the album, "Lying in the Grass." Painting With hits stores on February 19th via Domino, followed by a Friday, March 4th show at the Neptune Theatre. [Spin]

  • Meet Kristin Kontrol. You may know her better as Dee Dee from Dum Dum Girls, but she's adopting a new name for her new project which mixes R&B, synth pop, and krautrock. In a press release, she explains, "I wanted to open things up and shed light on significant influences that felt off-limits in Dum Dum land. I don’t want to fight them off anymore. That’d be a drag… The music is so different from anything I’ve ever done — I felt compelled to shed the alter-ego instead of trying to morph Dum Dum Girls into something else. I didn’t want to mess with that legacy." Kristin Kontrol's debut album will out this Spring on Sub Pop; check out the promo video below: [Stereogum]
