  • Over the weekend, The Posies announced that bass player Joe Skyward, aka Joe Bass, sadly passed away. In 2014, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer that, according to the L.A. Weekly, had metastasized and spread to his skeletal and lymphatic systems. Though Skyward left Seattle for the clear California skies, he was well-known and beloved for his work with not only The Posies, but local bands The Walkabouts, Sky Cries Mary, and Sunny Day Real Estate, just to name a few. (The photo above captures him performing at KEXP’s 2006 Bumbershoot Music Lounge with Jeremy Enigk.) KEXP sends our best wishes to all who knew him. [Facebook]

  • Psych guitar powers activate! Last Friday, Philadelphia rock ambassador Kurt Vile joined Purling Hiss (aka Mike Polizze) on stage at the fantastically-named venue Kung Fu Necktie. Together, they embodied the city’s slogan of Brotherly Love with a cover of Spacemen 3’s “Hey Man.” Watch fan shot video below. [Spin]

  • Toronto grunge revivalists Dilly Dally share a humorous clip for the track “Snake Head” off last year’s album, Sore. The lo-fi clip shows a subtitled conversation between band members as the song snarls along. Watch below. Dilly Dally return to Seattle on Friday, April 22nd at Barboza. [Stereogum]

  • Montreal-based band The Besnard Lakes share a video today that’s as atmospheric as their sound. Watch the clip for “Necronomicon” below, a track from their most recent full-length A Coliseum Complex Museum out now on Jagjaguwar. Director Nathaniel Larouche shows an alien craft traveling through beautiful vistas. In a press release, band co-founder Jace Lasek states, “Nathan has created something extremely special. It’s the video we’ve always wanted the band to have – it represents us perfectly. Watching it is nothing short of magnificent.” [Under the Radar]
