Sasquatch! Music Festival 2016, Day 4: Thunderpussy

photos by Matthew B. Thompson (view set)

For the better part of a year, Thunderpussy has been going through a list of local Seattle clubs and conquering them one by one. For their second Sasquatch consecutive appearance (they explosively opened the small Yeti stage at last year’s fest), the quartet roared the main stage open on Monday afternoon. If there was any question that Molly Sides and co. would have trouble adapting to a large outdoor stage from the small clubs they’ve come to excel in, the band quickly proved to be more than adept at bringing their theatrical rock and roll to a big stage. Sides and guitarist Whitney Petty are a hell of a pair to watch either up close or on a giant video screen, underscoring that they’ve sold out so many shows based solely on their live reputation. The band’s debut release is still forthcoming, but if it generates enough buzz to justify a third Sasquatch appearance in as many years, Thunderpussy could very well get a chance to complete a trifecta of shows shredding with another force of nature in the background.
