  • Our girl Grimes always does the unexpected, and that’s just part of the reason why we love her. Today, she has released not one, not two, but SEVEN new videos for tracks from her latest LP, Art Angels. The clips were created by Grimes, her brother, Mac Boucher, and her best friend, HANA, during a two week period while on tour in Europe. In a note, she explains the films were done guerilla-style, with no crew, makeup, lights — just these three artists and their phones. You can watch them each individually on her YouTube channel, or watch them threaded together into a 38-minute-long film called The AC!D Reign Chronicles below. [Consequence of Sound]

  • On October 15th, American Laundromat Records will release Say Yes! A Tribute to Elliott Smith, a collection of Elliott Smith covers by artists like Jesu/Sun Kil Moon, Waxahatchee, Adam Franklin of Swervedriver, Tanya Donelly, Lou Barlow, and Lou’s Dinosaur Jr. bandmate, J Mascis. Stream his cover of “Waltz #2 (XO)” below. [Under the Radar]

  • This will come as no surprise to their fans, but the ever-prolific Thee Oh Sees have a new album coming out next month, An Odd Entrances, which is described as a companion LP to this summer’s release, A Weird Exits. Check out the first single “The Poem” below. Profits from its first pressing will be donated to Elizabeth House, a California charity that helps homeless women and children, so get yourself one when it hits the street November 18th via Castle Face. • We’ve got another video collaboration to share from Oscar-winning director Paul Thomas Anderson and Grammy-winning band Radiohead. While the clip for “Present Tense” was recorded at night (watch here), the new video for “The Numbers” features Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood playing on a deck somewhere in Tarzana, California, against a blue sky background. Watch below: [Stereogum]
