  • It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since beloved Northwest singer/songwriter Elliott Smith released his now-classic LP Either/Or. For its anniversary, Kill Rock Stars is releasing an expanded reissue with live tracks from the 1997 Yo Yo A Go Go Festival in Olympia, WA, as well as previously unreleased tracks, like the one shared below, “I Figured You Out.” While the song was never officially released by Smith himself, his good friend Mary Lou Lord recorded a cover that appears on her 1997 Martian Saints EP. The expanded, remastered Either/Or hits stores on March 10th. [Under the Radar]

  • Speaking of the ’90s, Boss Hog made a victorious return after 16 years with last year’s EP Brood Star. Well, now we’ve got a full-length to look forward to from the husband and wife duo of Jon Spencer (of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and Pussy Galore) and Cristina Martinez (also, occasionally of Pussy Galore). Brood X hits stores March 24th via In The Red Records. Check out the first single “17” below, and while you’re at it, check out the band’s killer KEXP in-studio session from last year, and stay tuned for an unexpected guest musician towards the end of the set. • When Kendrick Lamar headlines Coachella this April, take a look at his feet — Lamar has collaborated with Reebok for an exclusive sneaker design. Using a variation of the classic “Club C” design, Lamar presents a black-and-white pattern to represent equality against an acid-washed denim background. Via a press release, he elaborates, “Now more than ever it is important for individuals to come together as one. This sneaker represents that call for unity and equality, while also pushing people to look beneath the surface and uncover the hidden messages. This is something I try to do with my music, and now here with the Club C.” The Reebok Classic x Kendrick Lamar Club C Capsule is available starting January 13th. [Pitchfork]
  • Back in November, Swedish singer/songwriter Jens Lekman shared he was 99% done with a new album. Well, let’s make that 100%: the album Love Will See You Now is scheduled for a February 17th release on Secretly Canadian. A press release shares that the LP “inverts pop’s writing norm by making songs with sad concerns sound happy and songs with a happy.” Get a taste with the single “Whats That Perfume That You Wear?” below. Lekman plays Neumos on Sunday, March 5th. [Consequence of Sound]
