  • Late last year, Nine Inch Nails surprised fans with an EP of new songs titled Not the Actual Events. Digital copies were already emailed to customers, but now the physical versions are starting to make the rounds, and it’s a mess. Literally. A warning label is affixed to the package reading “actions have consequences” and “this will make a mess.” As you open it, your hands get smudged in a black powder. It’s kind-of the perfect delivery for a Nine Inch Nails EP. [ Pitchfork ]

  • It’s been about four years since we last heard from dream-poppers Beach Fossils, but today they share a single from their upcoming LP, Somersault. Stream the single “This Year” below. Founding member/frontman Dustin Payseur says the song is about “facing mistakes you’ve made, aiming to work on it and better yourself, but ending up making the same mistakes again. It’s kind of an endless loop. People always aim to make New Year’s resolutions, get a fresh start, but ultimately fall back into these old bad habits.” Somersault will be out June 2nd via Bayonet. • Chaos ensues in the latest video from The New Pornographers. For the track “High Ticket Attractions,” director Dan Huiting lets a group of teens trash their chemistry class. Watch below. The new album Whiteout Conditions will be out April 7th on their own label Collected Works Records (in partnership with Concord). The New Pornographers play Saturday, April 15th at the Moore Theatre.
