  • Surprise! Baltimore duo Wye Oak have sprung an EP on us titled Tween, out now digitally and available physically on August 5th via Merge Records. The title reflects the contents: via a press release, they explain the songs “don’t make sense for album number five,” but “just because they don’t belong there doesn’t mean they don’t belong anywhere.” They’re between albums. Check a video for the track “Watching the Waiting” below, directed by Michael Patrick O’Leary and Ashley North Compton. KEXP presents Wye Oak on Tuesday, July 12th at Neumos. [Pitchfork]

  • Austin, Texas group Shearwater are heading out on a European tour, and to kick things off, they’ve released an animated lyric video for “Pale Kings,” off their most recent release Jet Plane And Oxbow. Watch below, and for a Throwback Thursday, check out a solo in-studio from frontman Jonathan Meiburg on the KEXP Blog here. [Under the Radar]

  • As we mentioned last month, Paul Banks of Interpol and RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan have formed the duo, Banks & Steelz. We’ve already shared their collaboration with Ghostface Killah here on the KEXP Blog, and today we the single “Giant.” Their debut full-length Anything But Words will be out August 26th via Warner Bros. • Last night, Tegan & Sara stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden in support of their latest, Love You To Death. Watch the twins perform the single “Boyfriend” below, channeling Neve Campbell in her Party of Five days with those haircuts. Stay on top of all these late-night television highlights with KEXP’s TV Eye column. [Stereogum]
