  • So, as you probably heard on KEXP last week, or read on our blog or social media, Seattle's own Pearl Jam was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last Friday in a ceremony from the Barclays Center in New York. (KEXP's DJ Troy Nelson was live on the scene, posting on the KEXP Twitter and Instagram accounts.) Band members Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, and Matt Cameron were joined by original drummer Dave Krusen, who hadn't played with the band in 25 years. In his acceptance speech, Ament noted, "It’s an honor in to be part of a club that includes so many of our heroes -- Neil [Young], the Clash, Zeppelin, the Stooges, Cheap Trick -- but the fact is that we were affected by bands that aren’t here." Ament wore a t-shirt printed with these band names, which you can see below via the Pearl Jam Instagram account. (The copy editor in me will overlook the misspelling of "Jonathan Richman" in light of how good the list is.)

Watch fan-shot footage below as they perform their 1991 hit "Alive" and an all-star performance of "Rockin’ in the Free World," a shout-out to ailing rocker Neil Young who was originally slated to present the award to the band (retired talk show host David Letterman filled in). Additional musicians included another former drummer Jack Irons, Rush’s Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee, Dhani Harrison, Journey’s Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon, and Yes’ Trevor Rabin. A pre-recorded telecast will air on HBO on April 29th. [ Consequence of Sound ]

  • Spoon share a video today for the title track from their latest LP, Hot Thoughts. Directed by Matt Muir, the clip uses footage from their hometown performance at SXSW last month. Watch below. The band have also announced a tour with fellow Portland transplant, The Shins, but oddly, the pair don't seem to list any Northwest dates. (Have we mentioned that odd window around Labor Day in their itinerary though? Interesting!) [ Pitchfork ]

  • Minneapolis-based band Poliça share a new single today, featuring some guest lines from Spank Rock. Check out the single "Still Counts" below. The track can be found on an upcoming limited edition 7-inch out on Record Store Day, Saturday, April 22nd. [ Stereogum ]

  • In addition today's KEXP Song of the Day, we've got another new song from power-duo PWR BTTM to share. Stream the single "LOL" below, which complements the track "Answer My Text" that we shared last month. All these tracks can be found on the album Pageant, out May 12th via Polyvinyl. The guys bring the new songs to Neumos on Wednesday, July 19th. [ Stereogum ]
