Vancouver, BC artist Dan Bejar -- better known as Destroyer -- returns with his 11th album, which KEXP Music Director Don Yates describes as "a powerful set of dark,'80s-steeped New Wave/post-punk with prominent percussive synths, gleaming guitars and occasional strings and horns accompanying his dramatic glam-pop vocals and dark, aphoristic lyrics revolving around depravity, decadence and end times." Bully, the Nashville trio led by Alicia Bognanno, deliver "an excellent set of '90s-steeped grunge-pop with a dynamic sound featuring fuzzy guitars and muscular rhythms accompanying Bognannon's raspy vocals and anxiety-fueled lyrics." On their third LP, Gothenburg, Sweden band Makthaverskan bring "an impressive, hook-filled blend of energetic post-punk, shoegazer dream-pop and '60s girl-group pop, combining shimmering guitars, atmospheric synths, driving rhythms, Maja Milner's soaring vocals and often-dark lyrics juxtaposed with sky-scraping melodies."
With her sophomore album, Nashville-based artist Margo Price broadens "her musical palette with a confident blend of rollicking country-rock, Memphis soul, slinky country-funk, gospel-steeped ballads and intimate folk on sharply crafted songs with subjects ranging from class and gender inequality to heartache, loss, and resiliency." Toronto band Odonis Odonis bring "a fine set of industrialized post-punk with a dark, bass-heavy sound featuring throbbing synths, menacing beats and gloomy vocals" on their fourth LP. And New York's Yeah Yeah Yeahs celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut Fever to Tell with a "Limited Edition Deluxe Box" reissue, limited to 2,000 copies, featuring a newly remastered version of the LP on 180-gram vinyl alongside nine unreleased demos, eight B-sides and rarities, plus a 164-page hardbound book filled with Nick Zinner's personal photos of the band as well as Karen O's notes.
